OGDEN — “Ju Dou,” a story of a young woman trapped in an arranged marriage, continues the “Beloved Infidels: China’s Fifth Generation Film Directors” series on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
The 1989 movie will be screened at 7 p.m. in the Shepherd Union Building’s Wildcat Theater on the Weber State University campus, 3848 Harrison Blvd. Admission is free and the film is rated PG-13.
Directed by Zhang Yimou, “Ju Dou” was the first Chinese film to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. The title character, portrayed by Li Gong, ends up having an affair and conceives a child who is raised as her husband’s heir.
